we spent a fantastic night there next to the information board right on the beach. Watched the deer coming down at night and playing on the beach.

Applecross

Check weather before attempting the pass (Bealach na Ba). I do this regularly from Skye to friends in Applecross and if there is low cloud below 1200 feet, the top can be impenetrable.

We'll be in this area in Aug. and shall give some of the places a go. Like the sound of the church park, north of Applecross. I think we'll take the coastal route, though!!!

Stayed on the beach at Applecross, near the church and Heritage centre.Lovely views across the bay. A bit wild when the wind blows and midgey when it doesn't. There is another area to camp on the beach with picnic tables, nearer to the village, where most peple seemed to prefer. It became very wet after rain, though. No problems further round, the ground just soaked up the torrential rain! And yes, I eventually found the skull and crossbones grave!!!!

Toscaig pier, yes, seemed like a good place. Also a grassy area here with a picnic table where you could camp.

Bealach na Ba

We were planning to go to Applecross the second half of August via the Bealach na Ba, however, from reading this thread is it irresponsible to do so? We will be in a 22.5ft motorhome, which we are hiring, my husband is a very competent driver and we have hired larger RVs and driven through the Rockies on some smallish mountain roads, as opposed to main highways. Any advice would be appreciated - thank you.
