Mobile phones abroad

Dont go abroad very often but will be soon, Spain, whats the score on receiving texts and picture texts whilst abroad, will it cost me/the sender any more than normal?.. will I still receive them??.
Also should If I take my laptop , will I be able to keep in touch by using my mobile as a modem as I do at home.

For voice and text until the 31st August Vodafone have abolished roaming charges so they are the best bet -just join their 'Passport' scheme.

Sadly still at the moment data is still exorbitantly expensive when roaming so the best bet is if possible to get a local SIM for 3g access. However in some countries such as Spain this can be difficult as you need a local NI number.

Best bet is WiFi.

Thanks for that Andy, I assume that if Barry continues to send me picture texts whilst I,m abroad , then they wont cost any more than sending to the uk.
If this is the case then I can continue to keep the forum updated on their progress on the walk whilst I,m away.
