My only suggestion is sit down & call as many as you can, try to get the best then try again with the best quotes to play one off against the other.

My best deal for the past 2 years has been Saga, they were one of the few who didn't require me to have a tracker or cat 1 alarm as most of the others did.
The secret is they ALL just tick boxes-just like the millions of illiterate little Gauleiters who now control everything in the UK!.
If the box doesn't tick-then zoooomps .

I need to get insurance before I pick up my newly bought used van. Have just obtained an online quote from Saga (only just over 50) fully comp wth breakdown cover £168.98.
Don't think anyone is going to match that. Now I need to check if my RAC cover also covers my M/H, if it does then I should be able to get a further reduction.

Interesting.... my quote with Safeguard was around £360 for my £10k Roo car-conversion with 22years NCB and one of the lowest-rated post codes areas in the country...??!! Hmmmmmm...??

There are 101 reasons why insurance premiums can differ, and when comparing premiums it is important to consider the cover is like for like.

Irrespective of your history re claims, it is possible that on occasion the Insurers review what 'book' they want and you may not fit....the obvious example is a self build. Other factors can be a postcode or age group etc etc.

I remember mid 90's having particular issues with a buisness I was involved with that insurers and finance houses had a downer on some LS 6 and LS7 postcodes.

Ls is Leeds, and the postcodes I refer to include areas that are socially challenged, they also include areas of affluence. I argued the socks off that discrimination on postcode alone was short sighted and detrimental.

The bottom line is on each and every occasion come renewal time shop shop shop.

I've just paid £251 with Caravan Guard, and that for van valued at £37000. Protected no claims bonus, and 8 months out of 12 driving on Mainland Europe. £250 excess.
Thats in my name, with 7 years no claim bonus.
