Hi

Going to France in June from Portsmouth. Going down night before sailing does anyone know where we stay safe for the night.

Cheers

Portsmouth

Go to Whale Island, just before you go over the Navy bridge and into the barracks there is a car park on the left hand side with extra large spaces for motor homes. There is also lay bys on the A3 entering car parks, Portchester Castle car park, on the road to Portchester along the boat launching slipways there are parking bays. There are several parking places on the old military road to the forts on the hillside over looking Portsmouth, nice views!

Red face

We have stayed at asda car park as they are open 24 hours (except saturday) and pretty safe. They dont mind you staying - not like tesco or sainsbury We stayed at fareham newgate lane when we were late to put our van into storage yard and had no problems and only short distance from portsmouth and you can stock up on essentials before you go.

as I live on Hayling I can recommend this site ,the service station is Esso, also there is another spot , just as you come over the bridge an entrance on the right by the creek, be careful as you might miss it, the Esso Station is another 1/2 mile on the right,15 mins to ferry is pushing it, me i would allow 45 mins

you are allowed to stop the night on the port. we were told not to arrive before 11pm ( 23-00) but it can be noisy with the early morning ferries,

This is what we have done and we slept ok. The noise starts when the morning ferry arrives at about 0600hrs
