Hi every one we are new to wild camping we are selling our caravan & buying a motorhome soon so thought this would be a good site to join
We are looking at a phew motorhomes which are 25 foot long would something of this size be a problem when wildcamping ? Around the lake district , yorkshire, scotland.?

My present van is just under that length and I’ve been wild camping up in the Lake District and had no problems in parking.
Many of the lay-bys will say no over night camping but I ignored them and wasn’t disturbed.

Welcome to the site,

You should not have any problems with parking up anywhere you travel to, but if you are unsure of a POI you can check out the location on Google Earth using the POI downloads, you will get a good idea of the space at the POI this way.

Hope this helps.

welcome. Were planning going back to caravaning, motorhomes been great but restricts us for kayaking so she has to go. Size can be a problem but aslong as you have somewhere to keep the van safe when not in use and don't follow the Satnav down deadends on single track roads you should be ok, just watch the height too. Scotlands great as you feel more welcome and more places to stop unlike Cornwall.

Hi

Hi thanks for your warm welcome
We are now on the lookout for our 1st motorhome :D

Hi please don't take this the wrong way, but do spend a long time looking, all m/h look good when you first get in it, think very hard before you buy end lounge fixed bed, coach built , running costs, a van with a standard cab can save you a lot of money if you need bobby panels head lights etc. Every person has there own requirements, you will not get every thing that you wont unless you are very lucky. We have had m/h since 1969 (camper van then ) and I think we are as near to the perfect van for the way we use it. Also will it be a new van or second hand, if you buy new and don't like it then it is a bigger loss financially. Have fun looking and don't forget you have a lot of friends on here to help you if you need it, good luck. :drive: :drive:

Dose size matter ?

Hi thanks
We are lookin at a second hand van as we can't afford a new one we have looked at a class with a fixed bed drop down bed at the front another double in the lounge its huge but there is only two of us but we think the space would be good if we was to take family with us at 26 ft long I have my doubts with the size no problem parking it up (in storage)
