Hi, not yet in the motorhome fold but due to changes in personal circumstances and a heightened desire not to spend weekends in the garage and more time in the great outdoors I have found my way here(via a hyperlink to Wez's Nissan Vanette.
Have been considering a touring type vehicle for a while and have considered several options(one or two tried and tested others less so) for conversion(I'm reasonably handy with the spanners(or woodwork if required!) so why not dare to be different.
Thus far i've considered the more leftfield choices of
Volvo 940 with converted rear loadspace(ala 60s car based camper conversions) or hardshell roof tent(Maggiolina)
Mitsubishi Delica(L400)
Nissan Vanette Cargo
Toyota Hiace
.....or the more traditional
Land Rover Series 2a or 3 Ambulance(converted with 200Tdi)
Ford Transit Mk3
In terms of travelling I'm looking to Europe and North Africa(have completed the Plymouth Banjul Challenge previously), and whilst I've consider the LR option I'm not over enamoured with that as a choice and fancy something as small as I can practically get away with but is also a realistic choice to pound the miles out on some journeys(again an LR across Spain was just unpleasant!)
So need to clear a couple of other projects away first and then hopefully get a van in the summer and hello to get up and go weekends!Yay!!
