Hi

I suspect this has been posted beforehand, but I couldn't find it!! Google has on (11/03) updated google Street View to cover 95% of UK roads. This will be very useful for picking out, and linking to potential wild camping spots me thinks, and enable folk to post up a photo of the spot even if they never took one.

The quality is very good as you can see here. I'll add mine to the appropriate forums.

Hi Nigel,
This is really nice. :)
Street view could also show the 'no overnight' plates on the spot too.
But how could I copy and paste it ?

Ive been playing with this all day. I think you can either just display / post the co-ordinates so the user can enter them into google maps or you can print the page as a PDF and convert it to Jpeg (bit of a mess on really) or you can email yourself a link to the page or you can select the link option (top right of the image) and paste the URL. For example here is the Aire at Roscoff

This has got to be the single most exciting development for wild campers. The only issue however is that having spent flipping hours today on this there are clearly a lot of lanes, out of the way hide aways etc that are not and probably never will be mapped. Great stuff though!

Right Leo. You now have to street view all your wild camping spots you have posted on here by the morning.

Good luck!

Cheers

Thanks for those few posts - the first of what I think will become commonplace over next weeks and months. Even though many wild places will not have been photographed, this is a fantastic application for wild motorhoming generally. We will soon wonder how we ever did without it...

the piloet reg is clear to read i thought they were blanking them out

I hear a few people have been caught in places they shouldn't have been.... be careful lol

Just been back and checked mine and the reg on the van is clearly displayed but the car on the drives reg is blanked. Going up the road some reg's are blanked and some or visable. Whats that all about?

Hows this for a wilding spot.

This is where i grew up.
oops not got the hang of it yet.

been playing with google maps as well and found a few wild camping places that deserve a visit this weekend

My street is in the other 5%:(, but Ive been trying it out and found a previous wild spot near Peebles;), we had a little meet here a couple of winters ago courtesy of our scottish friend (Weez).

found a few nice little spots to wild camp near mersea island on a small road so went there and checked them out..Had a loverly weekend wilding it and will be back there again in the summer..only problem is I am now wilding in a caravan with a transit van as my tug so can look a little dodgy but every one who went past when i had door open said hello in a friendly way even the farmer who owned a field nearby said i was fine to park there again(I was in a disused green laneno chance of anyone driving down it)
