didn't get the landlords name but he's a really friendly approachable chap. we've gone there a few times on me partners bike for a meal (great food) and I stopped there last week with a friend and 7 kids and had the place to ourselves, mint!. He charges £5 per unit, tents in the field behind the pub and mh's in the carpark in front. Its on a dead road so very little traffic, and us nine females felt very safe. He leaves his loos unlocked all night too, and there's an outside standpipe. 10 min drive to middleton and easy walk to low force and high force waterfalls. In a fantastic settingand the beer is good too. A good halfway house between wild and mild camping, so good we plan to go back several times

Holwick

It looks nice though the car park is very small. We went there at half term in October but the pub was shut so we didn't feel it was right to stay over. We'd like to try again though......

last time I stopped there was a month ago, no charge. it's changing hands soon, and may already have, but the landlord seemed to think the new guys would carry on with the camping tradition!

I think the new people are in by now so hopefully things are back to normal now.

stopped here again last night - happened to be the new couples first night open, still no food as they are looking for a cook, but there was no problem with us stopping in the car park, and there was a few tents in the top field.
the new guys are nice and friendly, and most importantly the beer is just as good as it ever was!

Here is a short video of the area around Holwick, near where Hannah Haxwell lives. And infact you can visit her old farm which is a SSI (Site of Scientific Interest), if you can find it!
