We`re having our fridge repaired /re-fitted at a town called Blaenavon, (`The Big Pit Mine` is there) Wondered if anyone knew of a stopover or cheap campsite at/near,drawn a blank at all the usual sources.
Just a note, we`re having it repaired at a place called `The caravan centre`(breakers) Tel 01495792700 seems they carry nearly all parts for RM122 Electrolux fridges & will fit & service if required Etc very helpful. Trevor & Rachel

Caravan Breakers are very helpful and have loads of parts new & secondhand so I`m sure you will end up spending some more money with them !
They are on an Industrial estate and near the entrance is a large carpark so might be OK for one night

If you drive over the mountain towards Abergavenny the view is stunning and I`m sure you would have no problem parking up there.

when you pull out of the estate, turn right. At the junction turn left (uphill) continue on that road for a mile or two, you will be venturing onto the mountain top. At you become level, there is a right hand lane. (If you see the lake, you've gone a few feet too far).
Continue down that lane & you'll see a car park. We wilded there a few weeks ago. View was fabulous being on top of the mountain looking down on Gilwern/Govilon/Abergavenny and Blaenavon.

On the map below, its the car park on the far right of the screen.
Seriously, holler if you get stuck.....I'll direct you over the phone, if you want to find it.

Just looked at Canalsmans links. The 2nd one is the one I am on about. First one is on the main road & you'll be kept awake by many boy racers.

Car park on the Industrial estate is now locked & patrolled by Security. You might not mind it but I'd not want to sleep there....I know the town too well!

we were over at blaenarvon last year, that industrial estate is ok to stay on but we went on a car park at the bottom of the estate . also the lake its called keepers pond looks ok but dident stay there looked to get a few boy races on now and again so we used the industrial estate instead . that caravan breakers is ok they have everything there we spent ages looking round , only thing is he seems a little on the dear side but then again he is the only one around but he is good and helpfull at least. while you are there why dont you visit the big pit a good day out best thing its free to go underground, also there is the old iron works too you can have a look round there . if you go to abergaveny try the car park near the rugby club we stayed on there one night ,there was a big fair there at the time nice place to look round

One of the most beautiful spots we have ever stayed in was here at BLAENAVON. What a delightful surprise and pure serendipity!

The pictures say it all, our dog met his twin and the sheep love raspberries!

Did some wombling here as you can see...collected two bags of rubbish!
Can't believe that anyone could drop rubbish in somewhere as beautiful as this!

that looks like the top road from Blaenavon over to Abergavenny. We took basildog & karen there in early summer......fab.
We did breakfast in the open air on top of the mountain.
Bob & I live quite local (just 16 miles away) so we have stopped up there overnight a few times....to get away from the rat race.

You can stop overnight at the Keepers Pond - it's lovely there - we have stayed there on a few occasions.

The big carpark in Abergavenny - also a good place, although can be a bit noisy.

If you need water - the petrol station at the top of the town - I think its either Shell or BP - they have a tap outside - just by the gas refill container.
