At last they've seen the light! Motorhomes are now allowed to stay in the seafront car park - lovely spot - for 5.00 per night (still loads of other lovely places nearby which are free though!)

So which is right?

And are we talking about the same car park ...

Confused

Right - to clear this up. Just spoken to Alan Roberts in Highways at Anglesey County Council 01248 750057. Officially the policy has not changed, BUT there are tariffs up to 8pm then it's free until 8pm the next morning. As long as motorhomes are not causing a nuisance they turn a blind eye and you will not get any problems, but he does ask for responsible motorhoming which is fair enough.

Hope this clarifies things - as it means you can stay, it will obviously refer to both car parks, the one immediately on the sea front with the toilets and the one continuing up the hill (sea on your left) which is 100 yards or so up the hill on your right and massive - very easy to get yourself out of the way and not be a nuisance.

Called in at the car park yesterday and the signs advising 'no overnighting' remain (unsurprisingly).

It's all well and good Highways saying they'll turn a blind eye. But what about 'Mr Jobsworth' who applies the ticket?

I wouldn't care to take a chance :(

We spent the all day here but moved on to the road at night, the N.O.P signs are still there and TBH we didnt want to take the P** as its perfectly fine on the road, very quiet night, lovely spot, will return, did my usual litter picking tho but not much

Just got back tonight after 5 days wildcamping some cracking places there We stayed at penmon you can stay allnight no problems or there are several places on the road to penmon as well. but a new one we found was at holyhead if you drive past the marina to the country park then turn right through the metal gates on to stenna line property you can drive down to the massive sea wall and park where you want and they dont mind at all. even though it says private people are coming and going fishing ect i spoke to lots of people who have been going there for years .:mad1:

Just so it is clear Jen, the road, too, is time restricted on the sea front. Not so bad at this time of year, but later you would need to be careful.

Also, re the jobsworth comment above, the traffic wardens finish at 5.30pm on Anglesey and start at 8am, so as long as you respect the times on the notices, no jobsworth is going to give you a ticket.

Yeah, we noticed the times but didn't see a N O P restrictions are 1 hour free parking 9 am to 8 pm, we moved out of the car park about 9 pm and moved off the front about 10 am next day, thought we would be fine with that
