Hi

Ever year about July/August (check it out) Sunderland have a free air show (Red Arrows, Spitfires etc, etc) on the coast at Seaburn. Motor Homes generally park on the road opposite Morrisons supermarket. Ideal for the air show and local facilities (pubs, shops, take aways etc). get a spot early (at least a day before) because space goes quickly.

regards

PS In the field behind Morrisons, during the summer, when there is a rally on the "camp followers" also park in the same place.

There is also a spot just at the start of Roker Pier. if you drive down to the sea side at the start of the pier there is a flat area of hard stand on the sight of an old icream parlour. I live local and frequently see a couple of cars parked for fishing and an occasional campervan. Good for pets, cycling and several acceptable local pubs for beer and food.

Wow, this is an old thread.
I went to the show this year, and stayed on the next car park up towards South Shields from the Souter Lighthouse on the A183. Car park was free, but a little noisy late evening with boys and girls doing what they like doing best, you know, shouting, getting pi---d, etc, etc.

Happy Camping:)
