Thanks to all those who responded to my trip in the last week of October 2010 to the 'top end' of Scotland. We did stop in some 'wild camp areas' but at this time of year it was a little isolated for us. We don't need clubs and entertainment, but it does get dark early and the evenings are long so a pub is good! We did the full trip from Northampton and back (1850 miles) and stayed at some reasonable stopovers (CLs etc) - hard stands - which for us is good. Managed the whole trip in 8 days and it wasn't a rush. Would have appreciated longer days. Excellent! 400 of fuel!!). Andy

Doesn't sound like you get too many miles per gallon.

What was the weather like? North of Scotland in late October - sounds grim.

You should have gone one month earlier Andrew.

We did and had great weather generally speaking. There were 2 stormy days so we parked up at a little harbour and enjoyed watching all the huge waves. We wildcamped without problem apart from staying 2 nights at Magbrins place near Inverness.

We might do it all over again next year.:D
