I live in Burnhope and there is a wildcamping spot on the list already between Burnhope and Maiden Law but its on a busy road and not very scenic.

However, on a small back lane on the opposite side of Burnhope there's a far better spot here (http://www.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=burnhope&aq=&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=14.097003,39.506836&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Burnhope,+Durham,+United+Kingdom&ll=54.826589,-1.656489&spn=0.0067,0.01929&z=16&layer=c&cbll=54.826567,-1.656675&panoid=WnQUcAVWaDGXT3VbzpoyZw&cbp=12,17.79,,0,11.7) its right by a mobile phone station so you'll probably get a great reception if you're on the right network.

Just down the road is this place (http://www.broomhousedurham.co.uk/broom-house-opening-times) as well

Hi Dogfather.

I am from Annfield Plain and suggested the spot on the Maiden Law road. I agree the Holmside side of Burnhope is prettier

I am full timing now and use The Granary (C&CC CS) at Maiden Law as one of our base sites. Great views from here over South Moor to Washington and Sunderland and out to sea. We still have our doctors in Stanley.

We should be back at Maiden Law by Mid May. At present we are near Cartegena in Spain.

Hi John

Apologies for not replying sooner, we've been away in the lakes (again).

That looks like a good spot in Maiden Law, although its probably a bit close to home for us ;). I'm slightly envious of your current location but as we are both still working the continent is a bit too far for us to make it in a 2 week trip.

I've just read my post back and realised it sounded a bit dismissive of the spot you suggested, sorry, its probably a far better spot if you have a big motorhome as the road I've suggested is fairly narrow.
