hi, stopped for 2 nights in freshwater west just after bank holiday this month. there are several car parks, no restictions i saw. the middle one, suitable for larger motorhomes as well smaller, has toilets. there is a smaller one at the northern end of the beach more suited to mid sized or smaller motorhomes, and the road is quite narrow and has drifts of sand around there. it's a beautifull spot, obviously gets busy on sunny days, very popular with surfers. locals tell me he latest harry potter film was shot in part there as well as a robin hood film a couple of years ago. there is an army firing range next to beach which can be a bit noisy when in use. there is a viewing area for those of a millitary bent, be prepared to feel your van rattling from the blast of tank rounds! have photos but to big to upload

along the same coast is Newgale beach. A good stopover. Turn off the main road as if you were going into the main ( pay ) carpark and drive about another 1/4 mile until you get to the free carpark next to the cafe. Overnight no problem for one or two nights. No facilties.

One thing to be aware of is there is a fierce rip-tide at Freshwater West, it's good for surf but not for an early morning dip.
