Hilltop carpark on the southdowns way north of Arundel.

No facilities barriers or regs at this location - BUT! a very steep single track road leading up to it. suitable for small campervans only. From Arundel follow the A284 north to Whiteways lodge roundabout. Take the 2nd exit (A29) north and drop down the hill. At the bottom of the hill take the left turn signposted Bignor roman villa. Follow the signs for the villa through Westburton until you pass the villa on your right. Carry on another 300 yards and then keep left. The road goes through a farmyard then enters the trees and starts climbing steeply. Follow the hairpin bend to the right (this is the steepest bit) then carry on up just under a mile to the car park at the top of the hill.

In the car park you will find a wooden signpost giving directions to Noviomagus (Chichester) and Londinium (London) marking the fact you are on the route of the old roman road known as Stane Street where it crosses the south downs way long distance trail.
