Kimmeridge - Isle of Purbeck - South dorset

A small sheltered gravel carpark set in a small disused quarry overlooking the village of kimmeridge and kimmeridge bay. No regs, barriers or facilities here, just fine views out toward portland bill in the distance.

From the A351 wareham to swanage road turn right at the foot of corfe castle (signposted Kimmeridge 4 miles) and follow through the villages of Bucknowle and church knowle and keep going until you see a left turn signposted Kimmeridge, smedmore, to the sea. Follow this road across a small valley and as you go over the crest of the hill a small side road goes off to the left. keep straight on and the carpark is about 50 yards on the left.

Nearest fuel/ convenience store is at harmans cross on the A351. In Kimmeridge village there is a small shop / tea rooms and public toilets 1/2 mile further on down the lane from the car park. The tea rooms do a top notch cream tea!

Kimmeridge bay itself is a privately owned estate. The beach is open to the public but the road leading to the beach is a toll road. In 2009 the toll was 3 including all day parking overlooking the beach.
