A beautiful little village with a working harbour on the south side of the Lune estuary. Wilding is tolerated anywhere around the harbour. Very quiet with some great walks, some good pubs and a superb smokehouse where you can buy excellent kippers (as well as a lot else).

On google street view it looks like there's a height barrier at the dock - is that gone now?

As you approach the village, there is a large car park on the left that does indeed have a height barrier but that is not where I was referring to. Go past the car park and over the bridge. At the bridge the is parking on the left; before the bridge there is parking on the right; after the bridge there is parking on the right (in front of the general stores). All of these spots are big enough for several vans (and whenever we've been there we have not been alone) and all look out over the harbour. Hope that clears things up - and don't forget to sample the seafood (we've got some for our tea tonight!).
