I'm looking to find a stopover between Ferndown near Poole and Chard. Anything that can be recommended is welcome. Perhaps you know a trunk road with a large layby that the truckers use?
Thanks.
Ed.

Only just seen your post.
Used to travel a lot to Somerset from Christchurch. Best place I passed regularly was large lay-by off A30 coming down hill just before Yeovil. set well back from road but no trees to cut down noise.
Nearer to Dorset there is good lay-by on A357 at Durtweston , Just off A350 North of Blandford (follow signs for Sturminster Newton). Well shielded from road by lot of trees. Stayed overnight there twice just before xmas and no problems.
May also be worth trying Badbury Rings car park. This is set way back from road (B3082 Wimborne-Blandford. look for NT signs for Kingston Lacey) excellent views but very exposed in bad weather. Not overnighted there but been parked up for long periods with no sign of rangers etc
Hope this helps

There are large laybys on the dual carriageway between Bere Regis and Dorchester. Trucks stop there all the time.
