I've been offered a 1996 Iveco van (ex post office) which has been converted into a motorhome. It is registered with the DVLA as a motorcaravan. Obviously this is not a recognised conversion so I'm a bit unsure where to go for insurance. It will be used as a second vehicle for weekends away. Can anyone suggest a decent insurer for this type of vehicle?? Any help pointing me in the right direction would be gratefully recieved!!!
Thanks Antony

I have used the C&CC insurance for the past two years. They were over 200 cheaper than my previous insurer. Mine is a self build and they needed photographic proof that it was finished and met certain criteria. No probs and very efficient.

Try Shield
Motorhome Insurance Quotes Online | Shield Total Insurance (http://www.shieldtotalinsurance.co.uk/motorhome-insurance)

Gave me a great price (215) and a no fuss service on my self converted though you need a 1 year no claim bonus.

Adrian Flux (http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/motorhomes/) or NFU Mutual (http://www.nfumutual.co.uk/you/motor-insurance/motorhome-insurance.htm)

Insurance Choice are one of the companies that have very good reports over on the Self-Build Motor-Caravan site SBMCC ~ Self Build Motor Caravanners Club (http://www.sbmcc.co.uk).
Don't worry too much about self-builds if they are done well they're usually better made than the mass-produced ones.
