Hi all.

I found this parking space near the top of Cheddar Gorge.

It was a bit noisy to start with as the kids were doing some sort of hill time trials and the official car parks were full of kids and cars at night. This stopped about 11 pm and a great nights sleep was had and even better views in the morning as we pulled up after dark.

That will be on Cliff road .

Thar are lots of small pull ins and car parks allong there .
Generally the further up the hill you go it gets more peacefull .

I used that road a lot when I worked in the south west and there are lots of gorgeous views .

Word of advice about the gorge though. It's very popular with people into drifting (a form of motorsport sometimes done illegally on the mountain roads) and the local police trying to catch them. So you may end up being woken up by very very loud cars and lots of tyre smoke. Not to mention your usual boy racer crowd.

Oh and typically they would be there earlyish in the mornings 3-4am etc..

It's very popular with people into drifting........

Judging by the tyre marks on the road they've already been at play!

The night we were there they were racing up the hill but only one at a time so assumed they were time trialing. It was noisy to start with but I found it quite interesting. It all stopped about 11 ish and we heard nothing until aboout 9am.

As for the police tring to catch them. Can't be trying that hard as they meet in the day pay and display arears in the 100s, and how far can they get? Also they all without fail turned around just up from us and went back down.

We enjoyed it.
