There is an office in the car park where you pay the parking fee & get your shuttle tickets -- the bus also picks up from here. No shops or services near to parking. Artisanal services with a platform drain are modern & easily accessed.

REVIEW

2007 The location is a bit remote from the centre but quite quiet, & the charge is the same for either a few hours or 24. Exit is possible at any time via the magnetic card issued when paying. Parking is guarded & very quiet at night, only a little road noise. The free buses run every 10 mins into the centre -- very efficient. Interesting city for a visit.

CAMPING CAR MAGAZINE RECOMMENDED 02/07:

"This is a large car park that also encompasses an aire de service -- not too expensive yet also practical & next to large open spaces Shuttle buses run continuously into the city centre."

Parking is in a medium sized area where pitches are on grass/ sand, lit at night, bordered by hedges. Euro-Relais service point with drainage platform -- services (water or electric) are accessed using a token from ticket machine (only 2 electric sockets). Small supermarket in village.

The village of St Clément des Baleines which is composed of six hamlets stands on the western end of the Ile de Ré. Overhung by the lighthouse, the village runs from La Cote Sauvage to the sandy beach of La Conche, on the edge of the forest. The salt marshes near the nature reserve join the forest and the village together.

REVIEW: 2009 Convenient for beach or village, fishing possible off beach. No shade & quite exposed in windy weather. Quiet spot.

There is an Aire at La Roche Sur Yon which is free, only few minutes walk into town also beside a park which is nice for walking especially if you have a dog.
An Aire at Saint Giles Sur Mer cost about 10euros 5 minutes walk to town, beside a lake, swimming pool.

Ile d'Oleron has no peage and the aire at Bree les Bains is free and quite pleasant and spacious too. (2 weeks ago)

There is also a superb free aire at Foret sur Sevre. well worth a visit if you are over that way.
