As per my previous posts I,m of to France in a few weeks and have treated myself to a new copilot sat nav app for my Iphone. I can input co-ordinates using decimal degrees, but am struggling to find the right way of doing it.

For example co-ordinates
Lat 50.74552
Long 2.30454 which is for an aires near Calais is coming up as Dorchester.

Would appreciate some help please as to what I am doing wrong.

Thanks

Peter

Thanks for the prompt reply.

How do I input it as +2.30454 rather than -2.30454:confused:

Looking at the book "All the French Aires" the co-ordinates are in the format

N4730.061 E1211.743.

How can I input these if the only option is to input in decimal degrees?

Thanks

Peter

This website GPS Latitude and Longitude Converter (http://www.csgnetwork.com/gpscoordconv.html) provides a variety of conversion options :)

There are three 'Required Data Entry' windows ... for different input formats.

You need to use the third one.

The new sat nav program I'm using is CoPilot live premium (for europe). I'm only able to input co-ordinates as decimal degrees.

The program I used previously (and still on my Iphone) is CoPilot uk. I'm able to input co-ordinates as
Degrees, minutes & seconds
Decimal degrees.
Decimal minutes.

Should have done my research before purchasing it seems.

Seems I need how to work out how to convert from Degrees, minutes and seconds into Decimal degrees

By using the link that I gave you ... but a Google will find you lots of other sites that will do the conversion :)

Thanks Canalsman.

Not to sure if the web link will work when I'm offline in the middle of France.
