Hi All, Going up to Skye on 2nd June for 9 days, where are the places not to be missed ?, we enjoy the scenic mountains as well as the coast. Where can we find water to refill tank as we love to wildcamp.

Cheers Simon.

I like the west of the Island including Talisker Distillery, Neist point and the Coral Beaches north of Dunvegan. I think you can get water from Dunvegan too.

I've rigged up one of those little pumps you can get for pumping water from a container so that I can refill from streams when we go to Scotland. As long as the water is boiled it should be safe enough to drink.

before u get to skye if your coming along the A87 theres a few places you can wild camp by the side of the road at loch cluanie.

also,if you take the road from sheilbridge to skye you can use the ferry at glenelg rather than the bridge.

you can wild camp on the beach before you get to the ferry.as its only 1/2 a mile from there.

HI,we went round anti clock wise from Porttree, just round the top (past C&CC.site) there are some lovely spots overlooking the minch, then on the left there is an old Scottish life museum, toilets and fresh water.

Hi Simon, if you get the weather you wont forget Skye its truly amazing, on the road to skye before the bridge its worth diverting to the road to applecross aka the cattle pass, in my opinion the best road in the uk, youtube it not to be missed.

While I agree with you about the road to Applecross (and the food in the inn is pretty good too) - it makes a very big detour if going to Skye

We are currently enjoying lots of sunshine on SKye - hope it stays fine for you. Personally I am off to the outer Isles

There are quite a few places to wild camp on Skye (but please don't use the passing places). I recommend - as mentioned below - going up to Portree, through Trotternish (anitclockwise) cut across to Uig near the Quirang (lovely road - a smaller version of the Bealach na Ba to Applecross).

Another day, go up to Neist Point - car park up there - then walk down to the lighthouse and around about. People do wild camp up there but can be very windy - no water - but you can get water at Dunvegan car.

More things not to be missed instead of coming or going home by traditional routes try the tiny ferry from Glenelg - a great experience - community owned ferry - only takes a few vehicles.

Skyeferry.co.uk | Take the traditional route to the Isle of Skye crossing from Glenelg to Kylerhea (http://www.skyeferry.co.uk/)

While in Portree - take a boat trip on the Brigadoon to see sea ealges

Brigadoon Boat Trips - wildlife & sea eagle spotting, fishing & photography boat trips in Portree on the Isle of Skye (http://www.portree-boat-trips.co.uk/)

Go down to Elgol and take a trip to Loch Coruisk - Bella Jane is the best one

Bella Jane Boat Trips : Taking you to Loch Coruisk and the seals in the heart of the Cuillin Mountains Isle of Skye (http://www.bellajane.co.uk/)

Near Dunvegan - if the weather is good - take a short walk to Coral beach - photos taken in the sun make the beach look like the bahamas - but the wind can make it chilly

Coral Beaches, Claigan near Dunvegan (Walkhighlands) (http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/skye/coralbeaches.shtml)

Another must do walk is the fairy pools near Glen Brittle

Coire na Creiche and the Fairy Pools circuit (Walkhighlands) (http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/skye/fairypools.shtml)

Eating out? There are loads of places to eat out but I recommend

For lunches - Columba 1400 in Staffin (after a walk to the beach to look for dinasour footprints)
Red Roof Cafe in Glendale (before or after a trip to Neist Point)
Dinners: Old School House in Dunvegan
