Had a word with the manager of the Hadrian pub at Wall, said we could pay 10 for the night(!) in the carpark, or have a drink or meal in the pub and park for free. Had a drink, followed by a peaceful night tucked away inthe far corner down the side of the pub.

I live fairly close and often walk/cycle up there.
It's a quiet road and I doubt you'll be bothered.

The site you marked is their eastern car park. If you carry on up the road rather than turning down to Vindolanda and then take the next left there is an old limekiln (Crindledykes) ~ this may be a suitable spot.

Whilst there walk up to the old bronze age fort and the "long stone" ~ you get a great view over the roman site. A great place to watch the sun go down/come up.

Cheers

Thank you both for your thoughts and advice.
I looked up the Hadrian Hotel on the Internet and it seems quite a nice spot should we be able to arrive whilst kitchen still open.
Otherwise the walk to the Hill Fort seems a really great idea.
Again thanks.
P&B.
