The French Passion book has just arrived and my euros have been collected, so apart from general checks and sorting out documents I'm almost ready to go. I'm looking forward to getting over there, but not to the long haul from here to Dover on the motorway. I've only just got out of the idea of not having to fit everything into a weekend, so a month is going to be a culture shock. My wife is driving me mad going round repeating 'Cafe au lait' at every given opportunity and I'm trying to think of anything I might have forgotten, speaking of which can somebody tell me whether UK and French EHUs take the same plugs, or do I need an adaptor?

Yes and no - modern sites/aires use the same blue three-pin plug as in the UK but there are lots of sites/aires that still use the old two-pin plug. It is a long time since we bought our adaptor but I think they are easy to buy in French hardware stores/garages/campsites. You could also try Amazon or e-bay. Have a good trip.

here's another one for your worry list LOL, crossed polarity, very common on Continental sites, sometimes no Earth too, get a plug in Polarity tester from the Camping shops about £6 I would expect , be prepared to deliberately cross over your wiring on hook up cable or adapter to compensate for it.

Except that I rarely drink alcohol and if I do it's guiness. I'm the only driver.
