A female bluebird was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road, and the condition was soon fatal.

Her male mate brought her food and attended her with love and compassion.

http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv350/tiderus/sparrow2.jpg

He brought her food again, but was shocked to find her dead

http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv350/tiderus/sparrow4-1.jpg

He tried to move her - a rarely seen effort.

Aware his mate was dead and would never come back to him, he cried out with adoring love. and stood beside her with sadness and sorrow.

Mllions of people were touched after seeing these photos in America, Europe, Australia, and even India.
The photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France.
All copies of that edition sold out on the day these pictures were published.

You have just witnessed love and sorrow felt by God's creatures.

Even the humblest of Gods creatures have feelings.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, give fully.

Were only here a short time.

Shame that the newspapers seemed to benefit from this!

That's the way of the world.

Amazing and very touching photo's.

But if it had been me with the camera, I couldn't have stood there taking pics, but would have tried to move the bird off the road to a safer place in case it had just been stunned and not fatally injured. I know that it's "only a bird", but I couldn't have watched its' mate trying so hard without trying to help them.

Photographers huh??

I think you're right, they are monogamous. I wonder if that means one mate in a lifetime or one mate at a time? Can't imagine how tragic the former would be. Not that being single is such a terrible thing but we are talking animals here.
