you haven't been in Switzerland lately....

Eur 1.91 for Diesel next to the Motorway!

Italy anything between Eur 1.61 and 1.89 with just a few hundred meters between petrol stations

You are right Teutone. But then again the Swiss are Bankers and can afford it. It is your money they buy their fuel with. Works the same way here in England with so many hangers-on Politicians ☺☺☺☺ To save gasoline in the Alps, come down the hill with engine turned off. ☺☺☺. I know, power steering and all the rest.☺☺☺

You are lucky. I get robbed nearly every day. When I reported it, they said get another job to finance your fuel consumption. ☺☺☺ kidding.

21% less, yes. But how much of that is down to the Euro taking a dive at the moment.

Generally, I find that Shell garages are competitive. In my neck of the woods, my local one is cheaper than Sainsbury's and only one penny dearer than Asda (the cheapest). It is the Esso garages that are expensive up here.

You need to remember that the garages are run by Franchisees. They set the price of fuel and that would depend on what price they can negotiate with the Oil company.

Edited to add that Washington Services on the A1(M) recently dropped their price of fuel to be more inline with non-motorway prices. I do not know if this is still the case but handy when travelling North or South.
