first that bloomin' pheasant. Now blight on my tommies. Cucumbers came to nothing. I dunno make ya weep don't it :cry: That's it, never again ... until next year :D

us city boys have discovered the secret of veg,they have shops now where you can buy this sort of thing,no getting that dirty mud on our nice soft hands,let some grubby son of the soil worry about blights and birds and other calamities.no offence like

Well I think the answer lies in the soil. :idea: (anyone remember that catchphrase?).

First ........ you need some Goat or Sheep droppings as fertiliser. Also put some in a hessian sack and leave in your water butt for a while.


Second .......... a window box is not appropriate for Tomatoes and Cucumbers.


Farmers eh :rolleyes:, spend too much time watching Countryfile and Emmerdale when they should be out working.


ps, if you get Blight on your Plums, see a Doctor immediately. :danger:

whats wrong with rabbits? i don't know a lot about them except they're soft and cuddly and have one lucky foot,the other three not so lucky

Going back to the OP, this is the man gloating about all his sunshine, 30+C and us poor people in Wales having showers. Our next door neighbour has just brought us a cucumber that's about 12" long and some lovely ripe smooth skinned tomatoes, couple of Beetroots.

Oh well, you can't have it all!!

Pity you can't eat Seagulls, I'd never go hungry!!
