Just spent a couple of night in York and shocked at the price of some campsites (27), We came across this small Pub Campsite. It was 12 a night with electric. However i enquired if passing motorhomes could use their tap in the car park? As long as it brings business in then the Landlady says yes. Nice friendly couple who own the pub. Their is a waste toilet disposal too. If your stopping in the site , no need to use the pub if you dont want to.

The first night we stayed at a different pub stop over and spent over 12 in the bar, so 12 with electric. Water and waste disposal seemed reasonable.

The Lord Nelson, 9 Main St, Nether Poppleton, York YO26 6HS 53.987726,-1.1482 53.987726,-1.1482 - Google Maps (http://goo.gl/maps/7rXgu). Tap near back door on the out building , near toilet waste disposal. (ASK, Free use for customer) 2nd tap in the camp field.

This village is 4 miles from York with good cycle paths in to York.

Sounds cracking that! Are the cycle paths all the way into York, no main roads?

Yes apart from a small section when you leave the village over the river bridge, but you can still stay road free using the footpath over the bridge. The rest are purpose built green cycle routes. We couldn't believe the amount of cyclist . I would hate to think how much more busier it would have been if all those cyclist drove :mad2:

Worth a visit .
