We are going to Belgium to visit the WW1 grave of a relative. We are taking a late crossing so are planning to stop overnight on an aire at Hondschoote near the French/Belgium boarder. Have any members stayed on this aire?? Any info about it or any other aire in the area would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
Have you looked at comments on campingcar-Infos? At Aires camping-cars (http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/ccib.php?pays=FRANCE)

From a quick look at comments, none of which are very recent, most seem to find it good, and quiet, but there is a comment that pitches are narrow. Also often cars obstruct the waste gulley and occasionally the aire spaces. An alternative seems to be the parking at Bergues.

A couple of photos there, too.

Stayed there a couple of years ago. Lady comes around about 6pm to take money I think it was 6 we did not take advantage of the facilities I think it was 2 for water and 1 hours electric. It was peaceful with vans from uk, France, holland and Germany. Enjoy

Thank Ogni for the info on the aire at Bergues. Looked it up on the Bergues town web site (motor homes very welcome) and on Google earth.also found it on the June POI download.Looks to be an interesting town to take a walk round.
This will now be are first (free) overnight stop on our trip to Belgium.

We've stayed on this aire. Pretty basic and a bit tight as reported. There's a bit of road noise and we had a group of youths lighting fires on the adjacent picnic bench.

We prefer the nearby Gravelines aire tbh

I use Bray Dunes - unless it's a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night when the place gets rammed with weekenders

There's something about the name "Hondschoote" that makes the dog nervous :)

Bray Dunes in the town centre car park is closed for July & August according to the sign in the tourist office. We parked there during the day then repositioned just out of town for the night.

They now direct you to the carrefour supermarche up the road. There is a bourne, washing machines, a jet wash which will take a m/h. Technically the sign says 2000hrs to 0830hrs but we got there a little earlier and there was no issue.
