Hello, found a few more place for water whilst in Scotland this week.

Mallaig, Highland PH40 56.961707, -5.825654 56.961707,-5.825654 - Google Maps (http://goo.gl/maps/oOB6q)

This location has a tap just inside the Mens WC, hose pipe fitting. It does ask you not to put chemical toilet waste down the toilet due to its sensitive location.

This also could be used as a stop over (CR) as the signs have been been modified (see pic). This is a great scenic location with a Beach near it)

The second location is at Tyndrum.

Hose pipe style tap but you will need a longish hose or carrier. Not ideal parking but not illegal. This was located in the Male toilet block . Sorry didnt check out the ladies in either :-)

Hi James.

Not so sure about the sign being modified ( not officially anyway ) there are loads had that done to them.

Had the " NO " word either scratched off, covered up or just had some paint slapped on it.

Good info on the Taps though...........Thank You.

You can also overnight for free at the Green Welly services just up the A82 at Tyndrum.

Yeah it did cross my mind but many of these signs (YELLOW) have been modified in various ways after Andy **********s campaign where they were found not to be legal. There is also a sign on the door asking people not to flush chemical waste so i thought they may of given up on this location. Further down the road there are a couple of great spots but these have new type signs stating your right to camp does not include these area and states some regs.

regards

You will have better luck at the green welly as there are numerous fresh water taps around...one at the petrol station, one near the door to the snack bar and a few round at the parking, one on the wall at the back of the toilet block. I don't know if the tap refered to above is potable water or spring water.

Hello and Thanks. We have not been adding Fuel stations as most have taps but you would be expected to use the store which is fine but not free, of course we would always try to support local businesses or community areas that suggest donations for using their facilities. Also many fuel stations are metal type water supplies which may not be suitable for drinking ?? If you have any grid references for the others , that would be great ? The one i refer to in Tyndrum is in the mens toilet but close enough for average size hoses that i would expect wild campers to carry.

Thanks for your post

James

As a rule with the odd exception on the last release we dont add fuel stations. There are several reasons but the main being that you would probably be expected to fuel up to use their taps, most fuel stations have them if you really want to use them.
