1. Valkenburg in Holland, under ground Xmas markt great in bad weather just stay on nearby carpark overnight. Then over the border to Germany.

2. Aachen town centre Xmas markt, campsite 10mins away cost's 15 Euro's pn with electric, clean toilets/showers, bread delivered every morn.

3. Monschau (not to be missed) alas week-ends only, great nativity plays and great pubs, parking overnight on stelleplatz nearby.

4. Wittlich, small village type xmas markt but very friendly nice town to shop. Stay on carpark overnight. (stelleplatz not good).

5. Berkastel-kuez (Mosel) very, very nice "olde worlde" type town, park on stelleplatz over the bridge on carpark.

6. Trier, in large town centre, catch bus from campsite (very cheap) near "Messe halle" same side as McDonalds, great food, shopping, pubs etc....

Just 10 mins from Trier is a town called "Wasserbillig" in Luxemburg to refuel with cheap fuel (1:11 euro's), baccy and cheap coffee for your trip home.

we do it every year but sometimes we head towards Hameln (rat-town) then onwards to Braunlager in the Harz mountains, great views but can be heavy with the snow (which we like).
