Hi Campers,

Had to drive in to Alicante airport with motorhome to pick up Grandaughter that has come over for half term.I was a bit worried about finding an area to drop the wife off and return once she had found her.The weather is still hot but a little cloud today,we are staying at Marjal Guardamar Camping 2135 in ACSI,5 star free wi-fi Gym and fitness water electric and waste on plots, very good toilets and showers, not bad at 16 euros a night.:dance:

Considering going there before flying home with MH in storage. Is the site busy and I felt it may have been a bit remote?

My son snd his family lived not far from Guardamar in La Marina for 8 years. They are back over here now, I miss my trips out there to escape the winter here. We used to go to the campsite on Sunday afternoons it is not far from a lovely beach. There was line dancing on in the bar and a good playground to keep the grandkids happy.
Have you been to Santa pola? I liked to go there to watch the fishing boats coming in and unloading their catch. There was a wild camping area at the end of harbour with lots of vans parked up. The small places are not commercialised along that coast and even in the summer most of the visitors are Spanish.
I would like to go there in January if I can pluck up the courage to venture abroad on my own.
Enjoy.

Hi shortcircuit,

It is quite full but vans come on and off most days, there are a few over winter vans. It's about 30 to 40 mins to the airport but on a dead straight road across the salt flats. When you say remote it depends what you are after,it has indoor and out door pool gym you can sea fish or canal fish 10 mins from beach Santa Pola has big site but have only driven past.I think there is Aires or beach parking shown in the Motorhome stopovers book, but I needed a good site to amuse Grandaughter for week and easy return to airport.Don't mix it up with Marjal Costa Brava further in land.

Thanks for the info and yes I had confused the sites. Visiting my brother in Playa Flamenca so will check sites out on way and as only for a few days no big deal.

My biggest concern was that I understood that many sites in the Alicante area filled up at this time but in fact I am finding spaces in most sites in Benidorm and many of the northerners leaving so perhaps next month may be different.

Thanks again

Hi shortcircuit,

I don't book sites and haven't for the last three years, if they don't want you someone else will take your money,I did want 10 days here to cover the return flight but they could only give me 6,It could be because I am on ACSI @ 16 euros, but they said they would see what is avaliable on the last day which is wednesday so will wait and see and maybe go towards Santa Pola or an Aires, I will let you know.
