Don't know the model but it may be wired to a separate gps aerial amongst other things.

Mercedes Sprinter?

Part of the stereo?

If so, not much good although it was a very expensive extra.

the rest of the wiring maybe used or go to a cd remote player, some ambulances still use the old methods of maps on cd.s

Blaupunkt travel pilot does still use maps on CD but new maps are not available in the usual places, the newest I can find is 18 months old and roads are changing all the time, you are better off sticking with TomTom

My pal was asked 1900 to have his built-in GPS updated that he has in his Merc.

Get a quote, it might be good for a larf :) and then go and buy a TomTom or Garmin

If you want a recon model, then "fairytooth" on this forum has them. He also updates your own model for you at very sensible prices - fairytooth link (http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/members/fairytooth.html)

The Hymer 640 Starline I just bought was fitted with a VDO Navigation Computer and beautiful monitor et al. Apparently it was some 2000 when new: it's now in the bin.
TomTom XXL rules OK!

I use an old TomTom GO720 with trucking software on a SD card, no more going down narrow unsuitable roads in the van and remove the card and it is the normal car satnav
