There are 2 forestry commmision parking sites very close to one another both under a mile North East of Dalbeattie just off the A711 Solway Coast Road.

Both are well clear of the road and there are no signs to deter overnight parking. One of them even has 2 water taps!

We always look out for Forestry Commission car parks, there is often parking out of site, sometimes with toilets.

In fact we spent the night from 26th to 27th June 2006 on one of these car parks. The one with the water taps. We went as far as possible to the back side, there the traffic noise is almost inaudible.

Spent a nice and quiet night there.

My second son works for them, so I know how helpful they can be if their sites are respected

we will no doubt stop by there within the next few weeks whilst visiting a few of the 7 Stanes bike trails. We have stayed at the Kipford campsite many times, but campsites are no longer of any interest to us. :)

Did i hear somewhere that someone was asked to move on from Kirroughtree? That's another destination for our trip
