What's wrong with people? I don't know which is the most ludicrous, a councillor in Whitby talking to aliens or a prime minister saying how well his coalition has done. Their all fruit cakes.

Or senior politicians who think being money grabbing *******s is perfectly all right with the electorate. I don't know what is worse, the actual act of pursuing 5k-8k for a half days work 'under the radar' when 'they have lots of free time' or the mealy mouthed bullshit they come out with to justify their actions.
Of course it must be very difficult to survive on 67k a year as a politician, oh & of course the tens of thousands of 's they get for consultancy work on top, I feel a deep empathy for their plight. NOT.:mad2::mad2:

I have no problem with people earning large sums of money but I do have a problem with politicians being paid for access then being offered highly paid positions in the very same companies they curry favour for.

Hello Tezza,

"a prime minister saying how well his coalition has done. "

Going off the past 50 years I would say that the odds are that we are doing better than had Messrs Milliband and Balls been in charge?

Alec
Ok...can you explain to me why you think they have done well? Can you actually show me how the country is better in the last 4-5 years? And as for saying better than milliband and balls that is just an opinion because they weren't in charge you can't compare. But in 5 years time that statement might hold true

So at a dinner camerwrong told her the lies he tells us...and she believed him. Unemployment is not down! 690k on zero hour contracts....sanctions that wipe out jsa figures. Workfare is about 400k. These are not jobs by any stretch of the imagination. So basically she is as gullible as the rest who believe the lies and not figures

Hello Tezza,

"Ok...can you explain to me why you think they have done well?"

Where did I say that they have done well, time is a big healer but I do think that the measures they took were necessary.
What I actually said was that the odds are that they were the better choice, which is an opinion based on history, a guess in other words.

Approval from the OECD & IMF hardly comes as a surprise, they are all bureaucrats / politicians traveling in style
on the same gravytrain paid for by we lesser mortals.
As to the performance of "call me Dave" & his chums, the targets they set themselves for the reduction of government
borrowing & the deficit have been constantly revised to the extent that they have so far exceeded the borrowing of any
previous government.Furthermore Osbourne now says that it will now take a further 5 years, 2020 before his targets
are reached. This is the same chancellor, or should I say chancer, who wasted billions defending the holy grail of our
"triple A ratting" to no avail & then decided that it did not matter after all.
The only thing the Torys are any good at is sticking the tail on the wrong end of the donkey with effortless ease,
the benefits of a top class education ?

Bit of a silly statement that dont you think...if people didnt have opposing opinions i could never get mine out. So as everybody else says on here ...arent i allowed an opinion? or am i supposed to go along with some of the dross and drivel which cant be backed up. And i didnt state anybody had said the govt had done well...i just asked if somebody could tell me where they thought that they had.
by the way...what is this count ?

And i didnt say you had. Austerity has been proven to be uneccasary. And history is a funny thing...if your going back to brown then history shows we were doing ok until the banks messed up. Yes they had borrowed a bit more give you that. But what is this goverments excuse. We have had austerity for nearly 5 years no banking crisis and yet they have borrowed more than all labour goverments put together. I think history will show in years to come what this thieving lot have done

I like the freudian slip = "triple A ratting". Fits in nicely with Gordon Browns financial mismanagement as highlighted here.

Gordon Brown was rather clever and 'hid' a lot of 'borrowing' by the massive use of PFI's which we will be paying back hand over fist for decades.

Tezza
26-02-2015, 17:29
Well ....osbourne is doing exactly the same...even though in 2010 just before the election they condemmed them within 1 year he approved 61.

My Freudian slip, ratting instead of rating (where is spellcheck when you need it) gave you the "look there's a
squirrel" opportunity to deflect attention away from the point of my post which was about the incompetence of
the current chancer of the exchequer. If I have a short memory, yours is akin to a goldfish if you cannot recollect
more recent & ongoing events.Pats on the back from the IFS are, as i said earlier, are hardly from an unbiased source.
Incidentally the accounting website you refer to also has some interesting comments about tax dodging Tory
donors, you should read it & then forget.
