Coach /car park next to castle called Little Roodee very quiet. £1.00 overnite gates locked at 22.30 till 06.00 but there is an number to ring if you need to get off in an emergency. Temporary toilets at moment as they are replacing the old block. We parked right by the river and woke to the birds singing. Felt very secure and safe due to the fact that CCTV covers the whole car park..

 The park at chester that you are talking about is in the process of being refurbished and should be finished in the next couple of months but I have seen a few motorhomes camping there latley but shortly there should be new toilets etc which motorhomes will be able to use. It is a good stop right in the middle of chester.

Went to Chester today & checked this place out. (Ideal location as previous poster stated)
Very good for a car park & in a nice setting. Price has risen a little, it is now 1.50 after 1700hrs & until 0900 next morning. Then 3.50 for next 3 hrs.
Did not see designated area for M.H. so asked in the new visitor centre / toilet block. The guy told us that M. Hs. usually park by the river, but u can park anywhere.
Sounds good to me!!!
Car Park is called Roodee, Long stay. :)

The 1-50 overnight fee from 5pm now expires at 7am next morning some of the signs indicate this though most still state leave by 9 am however the tickets have an exit time of 7am! a phone call to the office confirmed this to be correct the are becoming less camper friendly at the little roodee. Al

Thanks for the info about this spot. We stayed there last night after having the van LPG'd (by Gasure) in Chester. With it being a Saturday night and Chester races as well, we thought there might have been a few vans there over night but there was only us and another one. It was a peaceful night though and we slept well! It's a shame that the toilets don't open till 10am on Sunday! We did manage to find a water tap on the outside of one end of the toilet building though and this proved to be very handy for a top-up! We weren't aware of anyone coming round checking parking tickets at 7am on Sunday, although the barrier had been opened and someone in overalls was going round emptying the bins.

Tony :)

No idea what the post code is, however it is by the river not far from the race course and the road bridge towards I think Wrexham.
Only a 5 minute walk to the middle of town.

Spent Tues night here in our RV excellent spot arrived in the dark so I was pleasantly surprised when we woke up. One other motorhome there overnight, very peaceful and surreal weather for October.

First time I have taken advantage of a stop listed on here.

I have read elsewhere that Pat Collins Funfair will be based on the Little Roodee from the 29th April to May 8th. I would imagine that they set up and take down outside of these dates so the car park will be unavailable for longer.

Regards

Tim
