Does anybody know of anywhere in the Southsea or general Portsmouth area-preferably not too far from the University? Also, I can remember visiting a beautiful place called Portsdown Hill a few years ago where there was a large car park...Anyone aware of any restrictions at that spot??

Hi, not much joy in that area now. 20 years ago a few fulltimers lived in their vans at Eastney harbour but did not look possible last time I was there. There is now a touring site adjacent to Fort Cumberland at Eastney. There are many hamlets behind Portsdown hill with possibilities but if you are looking for someplace to park on a regular basis whilst attending the Uni I suggest it will not be possible. You could try industrial estates, plenty of those around. Do let us know how you get on. I am originally from Portsmouth but now live in Devon.

Spent 12 weeks working in Portsmouth about 10 years ago, seem to remember a large grassed area down at Southsea opposite the IOW hovercraft ramp. Are there no streches on this seafront where you could park up for the night? What about langstone harbour is this a a possible stopover?Andy.

How about here in the car park right opposite the armoury entrance? Is there a height barrier?
