Am headed to cambridge this summer. Any thoughts on a place near town I could park overnight without hassle?

There is nowhere in the centre of Cambridge where you can safely park up and there are also barriers now which are in the middle of certain roads and if you are not supposed to use these roads (buses and taxi only) a metal barrier comes up and smashes into your sump. Best thing to do is if you are heading into Cambridge via the A428 is use one of the many large lay-byes and same on the A14. Lots of truckers use them and it is quite safe.

I can think of a few sots you can try... but as it is my home turf I've not realy had the call to test them

Lamas land - there is a nice little car park by the river within easy walk of the town center.. it was free last time I used it. Directions to it would be a nighhtmare so's here's a link.

Bridge Road Ipington - the other place to try is Bridge road in Impington... it is clse to the A14 but you have a big bank to insulate you from the noise.. you should be ok there over night...

I hope this helps

I investigated this place last weekend and found there's a 2metre barrier blocking the entrance.

What about the park and rides? Can anyone update us about these please? as there are I believe 4 on the outskirts of Cambridge and they would be ideal for fast and economiuc travel into town centre.

park up in grunty fen wilburton lots of tracks to park in that wont be a problem then drive to milton down the A10 to the park and ride into cambridge also the roads in the fens towards coveney off the beaten track all good around here see for miles as it is so flat plenty of hard standings where the beet harverst is kept should be also good and you will be never far away from cambridge or ely
