Hi all,
I don't know that this is the right place for this post as this is not a 'wild' campimg spot but a very nice Aire in the riverside village of Roque Gageac in the Dordogne, we visited this w/e and took these pictures.:)

The Aire is middle of picture at the bottom next to the river. It is a beautiful spot and although busy during the day with the canoes being put in and out of the river it quietens down after about 1900.

It is approx 50 metres from the river bank and really right in the town with shops and restaurants.

Hi Veedub,
Yes..know exactly where you were, we've been there a couple of times, in fact the photo you took looking downstream, is framed and on the wall in our motohome....what a lovely spot. Did you also make the 'aire' at Dom..there is even a little road train that comes to the 'aire' to take you into the beautiful medeival town..in fact there are numerous pretty and convenient aires in that area.
The Dordgone has got to be one of our favourite areas...the Lot valley is a close second..enjoy,
Regards,

Jackie :)

We prefer the Lot as a little quieter:)
We like San Sylvestre

We found a 'specially good' one on the Lot. Just outside Luzech. The campsite is called 'Les Burges de Caix'. They have an 'aire' and a small campsite. We were offered to stay on either, and as it was hot, and the camsite was on grass, rather than the hardstanding of the 'aire' we opted for the site. Both were the same 7.50..including electric, and the use of the washing machine (cold water) but brill service. They also had a bar, and a restraunt..ans could provide bread in the morning.
Such a gem of a find. They seemed to be runniung a water taxi on the river to bring people to their restraunt in the evening.
Immediately next door was a winery, that sold their wine..not only by the bottle, but 'vrac'..loose from the barrel :p. If I can organise my photos through to the site..I'll post them.

Jackie :)

Hi,
I'm not actually a camper yet, we need to sell the house first. We live here in the Lot, not too far from Luzech (sounds like a very good site by the way) Jacques :D I've signed up for this site so that we can gather as much info as we can before we get our van, I am trying to put something back in by posting photos of places we find when we are out and about.

Happy Camping.

Dave:D

Well, you are signing in to the right place, lots of good info here...and 'giving and receiving' of useful info is what it is all about. You are lucky to be living on the Lot....but there are so many beautiful areas in France..you are spoiled for choice...enjoy!! and happy camping.
Jackie :)
