Hi

Lille is well worth a wee visit on your way back through France - decent shopping and lots of historic buildings.

There's no parking suitable for motorhomes in the city centre, and I would advise against taking a large motorhome into the centre as its full of narrow cobbled streets. After searching, and finding only underground parking, we came accross some free parking beside the canal that had several other motorhomes parked up. We did not stop overnight, but it was clear that some other vehicles had done so. From there its a 1.5KM walk to the city centre.

Here's a van parked up in google street view: lille - Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=lille&sll=56.560182,-4.735143&sspn=0.017004,0.055747&ie=UTF8&ll=50.643581,3.051188&spn=0.000611,0.001742&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=50.643581,3.051188&panoid=BVsmXeoiyhSsf9O4-jL9Ng&cbp=12,56.6,,0,6.34)

Note that the bridge at Pont du Petit Paradis has a 2.5Tonne weight limit there are other ways across both to the north and south.

I'll edit this post if I remember with some pics.

PS: There's an official aire in Lille, but its small (4 vans), and located in a city suburb as opposed to being walking distance from the centre.
