Lovely little village, eastern edge of Yorkshire dales national park, a farmer on his own initiative has established a 'honor box' donation parking lot , signed on the left as you go up [northward] the dale, past the commercial town camping, at the upper end of the first and major reservoir /lake.
We quickly backed off to use that one after being shooed away from the Yorkshire Water day park and picnic area at the very upper end of the dale.. worth a drive, use the 'private' Yorkshire Water road that branches off to the right at the far end of the last village up the valley.
Tho the TIC advised that they don't encourage overnight parking, the 'pay and display' lots are free 6 pm to 8 am and there's a 24 hr toilet near the TIC. The long stay parking, to which we donated a quid, is actually free overnight, very quiet up an almost dead end street along the river, 250 m from the aforesaid toilets.. totally empty when we were there end August.
Enjoy and farewell as we had emergency repatriation to Canada and won't be reporting on any more sites.
