i see this as possible intimidation...

just remember ...although you may list these stop overs on your site ... you have no divine right to them...furthermore, you have no right to ask or demand credit for them

if you think i'm wrong go talk it through with the the relevant standards authority and or your solicitor.

also remember you have no more or less authority on this site than anyone else

I think we are talking about two different things here.

The information is of course free for anyone to use, copying and pasting someone else's text directly from another source is different.

I don't claim any authority, my request was simply for an original source to be credited.

I'm sure Admin has a copyright policy for this site...

Rach and I have had a PM conversation and we're still friends I think :)

All is good here ;) Im pretty thick skinned :D
I own a website and yes it does have a copyright statement at the bottom but hey if anyone wants to copy and paste to help others go for it I say .. thats what the info is for after all... But yet I see where Andy is coming from.. now he has explained in his email to me .. Alls well and nobody got hurt .. :D As AJS said it do look a bit intimidating but after Andy explained what he meant I did not take offence

Anyways back on topic has anyone else ever tried any of these carparks in Breacon?

Thanks for your support ajs :)

The issue of promotion is a difficult one - I run a couple of sites and did promote one of them in my sig. However the option to add a sig to my posts has been removed so I guess Admin thought that it wasn't appropriate...

I'm happy to share information, and try to contribute to threads on here, when I have some knowledge of the subject.

One of the problems with copying info from other sites is that, depending on the subject matter, it may change over time. If the information is just copied, without a reference to the source, it may become out of date and misleading. Take my info on seatbelt regulations for example, I've seen word-for-word copies of an old version of it on several other sites. However the Department for Transport's interpretation of the EU Regulations changed, I updated my site - the others still carried the old, outdated info.

Anyway - now we are all friends again, I'm off to the pub :)

Rachy xx

Yes :)

Used both of them this summer.

The Watton is handy for the town centre, but I hear that it can be a bit noisy if there's a rugby match on, and I guess it would be busy/impossible during the Brecon Jazz Festival.

The Promenade has two parking areas, the furthest one would be great in the summer because it has a huge grass area which is accessible during the summer months only. I checked with Powys Council and the same rules apply there, i.e. motorhomes can stay one night in seven. It must be one of the nicest approved stopovers in the country. I only hope it doesn't get abused and closed down...

Access to The Promenade is a bit tight, it's quite a narrow road leading to it, there are no large bays in the tarmac car parks, and it does get busy.

Hi,If your in the Brecon area, head for Crickhowell, not far from town there is a turning and the B road 4558 this follows the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal, here you will find places to stay over, also quaint pubs on the canal,Talybont-on-Usk theres a nice pub and carpark and if you have canoes or inflatable could me-ander up or down the canal.Llangorse lake isalso a must visit,Crickhowell and then Abergavenny, from there you have everal choices Hereford and England or Heads of the Valley road towards welsh south wales,Brynmawr and Merthyr Tydfil and its historic industrial valley's,now all cleaned up for tourists or call in to Blaenavon BIG PIT.If you travel from Merthyr down the A470,you pass Abervan,Abercynon,Pontypridd(Tom Jones)further on is Castle Coch ,a fairytale castle a must see, just passed Taffs Well(my birthplace)theres also Caerphilly castle not far,or onward to the capital of Wales CARDIFF,then Caerleon,Usk and Monmouth OR the opposite way following the M4 towards Swansea and the Gower but first call in St Fagans(Museum of Welsh life)whole buildings from all over Wales rebuilt there, with demonstrations etc.Porthcawl and Nottage is another stop on the way to Swansea, theres also a bird reserve there onto the ,M4 again into Swansea follow the road in staying left as you can, this way the sea and bay is 30 mtrs, there is a small mariner and museum just as you enter, good park up,the Mumbles further along is also cool, from there the Gower,Caswell bay and Oxwich bearing in mind that the sea is still very close and on your left, take advantage of stops, cafe's or car parking in diferent places and have a littlewalk/stretch as sometimes you can find 'special' places just down a muddy path, theres alot of National trust and dunes all along this area and very beautiful,Port Eynon and Rhossili, then onto Pembrey sands on the way to Kidwelly and Carmarthen, from there all Pembroke !!!!
Theres about 3 months worth of touring and stays in that little lot.:D

Hi Rach
I went to brecon last weekend it is beautiful .. we counted 8 car parks that each have 1 overnight stay in 7 .. all cost 2.50 for the day and from 6pm to 8am is free
there are 2 promonade car parks s small one with a wall around next to toilets ( not suitable for a large mh) another further up on the left ..right next to the river with a park amusements and small cafe you can even hire a boat .. this seems to be the furthest car park from town and it only took us 10 mins to walk there

I e-mailed Canalsman a few days ago saying the whole of the A470 from where it is crossed by the A40 by Brecon all the way up to Caernarfon (it turns into the A487 unless you turn off right) could all be marked as OR -ie- rural road with lots of stops. We stopped counting after 150! I suspect it won't be added to the database as Canalsman said he takes the view people can find their own laybys etc... which is fair enough, but if anyone is interested this road provides stops from just north of Cardiff all the way up to North Wales - a massive distance!!!

Stayed last night in possibly the best overnight in Brecon - the promenade, just follow the signs for it. It's right next to the river, toilets and very quiet (1 in 7 allowed, ticket machine not working at moment, so free parking for all !). Nice 5 min walk into town centre and please you just have to call into the 3 horse shoes pub situated just over the bridge on the way out of the town centre. Run by john (chairperson of the local LVA), the oldest pub in Brecon and is a trully charming experience. Ask to read the visitors book. food is good and I hope you enjoy conversation because john does.
enjoy.
