Hi
We are going south this weekend. Does anyone know of safe stops between the Newbury turning on the M4 and the Winchester junction of the M3 on the A34.
I'll be towing a trailer on the Knotiki so it needs to be big also I will have kids in the van so needs to be safe and quiet.

Any help appreciated.

before you tell me yes I have used the search:D :D

There's a big BP truckstop on the A34/M4 junction, shouldn't be too busy at weekends, its on the A34 South so going the right way, I'm not from that area but have parked there once.

Hi biggirafe

If you are not bothered by traffic noise come off the A34 at the junction with the A303. Follow signs to Sutton Scotney. Go through the village and there is a big layby after about 1 mile on the RHS.

You will be alongside the A34. When you leave continue South and you will come to a roundabout after about a mile. 2nd exit is the A34.

That's the one.

Going North we found this spot on the way back up. Did not sleep over but it looks like a safespot for a stopover when travelling

winchester uk - Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=winchester+uk&sll=39.18566,-78.163334&sspn=0.135982,0.308647&g=winchester&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Winchester,+Hampshire,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.316445,-1.336427&spn=0.003427,0.009645&t=h&z=17)

Come off of the a34 going north and turn left then first left into the lane. There is a carpark at the end but we used the layby before the carpark for lunch and to let the kids out. Like all main road stops its not the nicest and there is a lot of mc donalds rubbish about but looks ok for a late night rest spot

That looks like Beacon Hill car park.

Did a parcel delivery route around Whitchurch/Andover/Winchester for a while so I've used most of the parkups around that section of the A34.

There are several spots around Whitchurch where horse drawn Romany vans still stop. I think I like my home comforts too much to rough it and who wants to look at the rear end of a horse for mile after mile:D
