Hi all, Kaneda here!

I was planning on making a trip across England and wasn't planning on paying for any stop-overs.

This maybe just newbee error and if I'm being naive just tell me but I'd have to either cancel my trip or save for the next two years neither of which I can/want to do.

So whats the deal with stop-overs and how many times have you been moved on?

We only seem to get moved on when we try and stop on National Trust land!

Virg, you are right. NT charges for parking. It is free if you are a member.
In Cornwall the area is full with NH areas. Quite a few Cliff top areas even have height barriers, most unfriedly. It all boils down to making money.

Whilst I am not a member of the NT I do have my NT press pass that admits two into or onto any NT property so.....

have not had experiance of being moved on but we tend to use large laybys on secondary A roads usualy whare tres and shrubs provide som shelter from the mian road noise. often we share the location with a trucker or two, ariving after 10 pm and departing around 8am.
Two points many truckers use these laybys for overnight stops due to thier driving hours regulations. To prevent motor homes from parking and leave the trucks would would be dificult to create a bylaw for
Also overnighting with other vechicles in more secure , truckers seem to use laybys whare a food van will arive in the morning the bacon sandwich is always welcome

NEVER! But we do try not to stick out like a sore thumb. Remember arrive late then any traffic wardens will have finished there late shift, so there's only the police, and I'm sure they have better things to do!

[QUOTE how many times have you been moved on?[/QUOTE]

just the one time, along time ago the wife and i took our grand daughter with us her first time camping so we went to a campsite i used to go to when i was young the farmer that owned the land would not let us on to much of the wet stuff made the ground soft so we headed for a place i used to walk
lovely crags good veiw national trust land by the way anyway cut a long story sort in the morning a red faced farmer  knocked on the van and said your not supposed to stop here and asked when are you leaving i replied when we have had our breakfast and the baby has hers also, i slowly closed the door and left him talking to himself and went back to bed, and that was that.;)

We've parked in central London - no parking restrictions 6.30 pm to 8.00 am, lots of quiet back streets in well lit areas. We have never been moved on. Don't forget the congestion charge Monday to Friday though - the fine will be on your doorstep before you get home.
