Well there could be some benifit to declaring war on Spain I suppose if they try to take Gibraltar. Its slwsys good for jobs is a war and it lets the politicians sweep all their crap under the table
.... just in case anyone takes this too seriously it is meant to be cynical, my humour is strange
shame they didnt vote to leave.
took years for uk to actually get accepted , the rest of europe licked the germans arses .
but never mind soon be out hopefully.
far better to join forces with africa or even china . after all they make most of the items called eu things . eu only assembles parts .
I was happy to be in the EEC (which was in effect more or less an expanded EFTA)
less so to be in the EC.
And the EU?
I don't recall anyone (not in govt.) in the UK signing up to be in the EU?
I think they had a referendum in Ireland about it? (All encompassed in the Maestricht agreement IIRC). And they had to rerun the referendum until the result was the one the Irish govt. wanted.
If the Spanish ever had a pop at Gibraltar I don't think we'd be in a position to take it back easily, so instead should seize the Spanish colonies of the Canary Islands to use as a bargaining chip. To wind the paella-munchers up further we should then rename Gran Canaria "Francis Drake Island" and Lanzarote as "Horatio Nelson Land".
Seriously though the Spanish government's attitude to both Gibraltar and towards the Catalan independence movement, jailing their leaders (much as I'd like it I don't think we should jail the leadership of the SNP!) shows an absolute contempt for democracy and peoples' rights to self-determination.
