Not so sure about "the little outcry". We will have to see though. Round 1, EU elections. I'm certainly not wasting my vote.

Oh, I think those at the top know exactly what they are doing. The mess is a smoke screen. They've declared war on democracy and are hoping no one notices.

Agreed ... but the 2 questions on the Ballot Paper should be:

    Should we hang Politicians []

    Should we shoot Politicians []

    Tick one box only.

I think you should be able to tick both (you need to make sure the job is finished right!)

Wonderful - demand to leave the EU because it is supposedly anti-democratic and then refuse to vote in the EU or local elections. Logic doesn't seem to be a top priority for certain Leave voters.

Democracy means you have the choice to vote or not vote - linking the choice to not vote and democracy is not logical.

If you want to try and make a link between the two try North Korea, where in the recent 'elections' held there there was one name on the ballot; it was mandatory to cast a vote; and it was illegal to deface the ballot paper or to not select one (ha ha) of the candidates.

Now there is a perfect example of being REQUIRED TO VOTE being both ILLOGICAL and UNDEMOCRATIC.

My comparison was perfectly logical - when the same people who complain about being ruled by "unelected bureaucrats" choose not to vote then they are being hypocritical. But the person who started this thread is well-versed in that. Your example of a one-party state is not relevant at any level in the UK. I accept that democracy means you have the right to choose not to vote but if you make that choice then you have forfeited your right to complain about the result.
