    It's a fake!

It's a photoshopped fake intended to incite hatred towards cyclists and so, like any other content intended to incite hatred, should have no place on WC IMO. See the Daily Mail article here.

Strange, my guess is the intent was humour, not hate.

It might well have been. However, it is no more appropriate than racist attempts at humour IMO. While I'm fairly confident that the OP of this thread meant no malice, the creator of the original image probably did.

Having lived In Western Australia , and seen some of their road safety adds on TV etc , I took it as fairly normal for the location Most Aussies are not quite so sensitive as some Brits

I don't think it's very funny but, I do think that as cyclists are so vulnerable, they must do everything they can to get noticed!!

I've stopped to talk to several riders who don't have lights (there are some very bright LED's now), who seem to think nothing of riding on fast country roads wearing dull coloured clothing, one was wearing full camo gear, they don't want to listen.
But of course it'll be the car drivers fault when they get knocked off.

Low sun in a drivers face can make a cyclist literally invisible, especially in the shadow of overhanging trees, unless, they have bright lights front & back!!
so when a driver overtakes a slower moving vehicle, the unseen cyclist is liable to get knocked off & injured. sometimes with dire consequences.

It's a very serious issue that needs some serious consideration.

Maybe it's time for the return of the public information film.

Photoshopped or not, if for one second it give motorists a moment of contemplation other road users are more vulnerable ...a gentle reminder than it has had a positive effect irrespective of the of the original artists intentions

Thats a very good point, and it's the photoshopped one that went viral, seen now by millions more than the original ad. The "If you don't see him, neither will his family" is pretty powerful.

seems a fairly obvious bit of humour to me, the humour being in the bluntness of the vernacular and having nothing to do with the vulnerability of the cyclist, of course. bit of a reach to be offended by it , but that's life it seems . perhaps all jokes should come with a list of warnings
