    Travel Insurance, which company?

I went to renew my Travel Insurance (not vehicle insurance) for this year & was horrified by the horrendous quotes, some up to 800.

I need an annual multi-trip policy, we are both in our late 70s & are away for long periods at a time in Europe.

I realise it won't come cheap but that price is over double what we paid last year.

I'm thinking of not getting any & relying on EHIC.

What do you guys do in a similar situation?, I'd be grateful for any advice.

We only use the ehic over 60 with pre exiting would just cost us to much . We spend maybe 6 months of the year abroad. I have often thought what do Brit immigrants do when they go and live in Spain for example....do they have private insurance or rely on the ehic?
The less you want the more you live .

I set up a Flexiplus account with Nationwide, 10 month, breakdown cover here and Europe, holiday insurance cover and other bits and pieces. I pay 90 a year on top of that so I can have extended trips of 3 months at a go. Works ok but if I was out of the country longer might have to look elsewhere. Btw, don't have anything in the account.

    Paying Too Much?

There's no way I'd rely on just EHIC - there's so much it doesn't cover.
I'm over 60 and got pre existing medical issues. The best deals I've found are with Paying Too Much. Give them a try!

I thought you were with ADAC for breakdown cover.

    Thanks Steve,
I tried them, same sort of money.

Unfortunately, their cover seems to be for 31 days, only, per trip, so that wouldn't be much use to many motorhomers.

We for the last few years, have used LV (Liverpool Victoria) They have been quite good with pre existing medical conditions, and if things alter!

I was with ADAC when I took out Flexiplus. Even with ADAC still works out cheaper. As I said, other benefits e.g. Mobile phone insurance.
