    Patchypete I have seen better looking vans but you've got to wonder why they made them in the first place really,and to be honest I would not buy one ( sorry 2cv)!!!

    i would be surprised if they are truly beetles .more than likely beetle panels on another chassis or a space frame chassis as you say axle weights
    if you google rolls royce motor homes you may just find pics of rollers as motorhomes ,i know the old austin sheerlines found there way as camper vans and daimler de 27 and i think 36 chassis were converted to ambulances and into camper vans later in there lives by some . ford cortinas and the later sierra aswell .oh and a relative of mine converted a morris 8 series e van into a camper van ,
    in the process of hunting for another tin shed on wheels
